In a complete 180° turn of events after last season, the Faneuil Falcons opened strong to beat the Old North Outlaws in three games.
The first game ended on a spectacular snitch grab by Falcons captain Sean Cardwell. With his back to the snitch, and wrapped, Cardwell snaked his arms around himself and the snitch runner and caught the snitch inches from hitting the ground. The Falcons won the first game 90*-70.
The Outlaws roared back to win the second game, 110*-40.
The last game of three was tied 50-50 when Dom Bailey caught the snitch before David Fox, winning the game for the Falcons 80*-50.
Outlaw Captain Matt Williams said “The Outlaws want to prove that our undefeated season two years ago wasn’t a fluke. Meanwhile the Falcons are being very successful in their rebuilding…both teams showed they will be a force the be reckoned with this semester. Don’t count the Outlaws out yet by any means.” About the Outlaws defeat, William said “the Falcons brought their A game. It could have gone either way, because we were clearly very evenly matched teams and this time it went in the Falcons favor.”
Last year, the Falcons were the butt of jokes for Emerson College Quidditch’s intramural league, having only won one game. Cardwell said “The Falcons are back, and ECQ knows we are here to stay.”
The Falcons previously won the Griffith Cup in 2009.
